Wasteful, wasteful the American way Extinction of a species, extinction of our world Are politics our only hope or will Mother Nature survive? Our children will wonder why we can’t see what we’ve done How long, how long, how long till we give back? How long to see the damage we’ve done? We’re spoiled rotten in America You and all your friends, Me and my family, You and I Till the day that we die We burn the fuel, rape the land, isolate our wealth Progress or evolution there’s a solution to create Education of our youth, a future to protect It may all seem hopeless but the change it’s starts with you and me How long, how long, how long till we give back? How long to see the damage we’ve done? We’re spoiled rotten in America You and all your friends, Me and my family, You and I Till the day that we die

Woke up on a typical morning Looking at myself in the mirror More than just a touch of grey More than just a midlife way? Don’t be a bitter old man Offer up a helping hand I want to be the one who holds you I want to be the one who cares I want to be the traveling angel Who watches over you every day I see my mother and father Message to myself I see my brothers and sister I see my wonderful friends Don’t drown in that springtime rain Don’t let the years walk away again Enjoy the simple things That make your soul sing out every day You have to try to make it right Live your life without a fight Take up your wings, fly to the sky Before you have to say goodbye. I see the love of my life Message to Myself I see my only son It’s all I’ve got, all I’ve got

See my little boy, he’s climbing up a tree Reaching for the sky, he’s trying to believe He can’t understand, the innocence of youth For that little boy of mine It's for that little boy of mine See him watching all the horrors of our world Thinks it’s all a fake, too terrible to believe To teach him well is my only hope For that growing boy of mine It's for that growing boy of mine Jump up, reach out, grab on to your dreams You’re the generation that sees what it means Take a stand, you’ve got to make it right We left it in your hands In your hands Today is your time, you got what it takes Stand up for your future, stand up for your rights Scream it out loud at the top of your lungs For that grownup boy of mine It's for that grownup boy of mine Jump up, reach out, grab on to your dreams You’re the generation that sees what it means Take a stand, you’ve got to make it right We left it in your hands In your hands

Extinction 04:38
I see the sun, the moon, the stars The sky above, feel the earth below We can’t pretend we control this world We’re just a plague on the environment Mother Nature’s changing fast It’s her only way to be free She works in many wonderful ways Reproduction and evolution She also works in the strangest ways To the extinction of the highest order We also work in stranger ways Manipulation of every living thing We have to realize our fate today Or trade away our children’s tomorrows and today Mother Nature’s changing fast It’s her only way to be free And we tear her down, tear her down And someday we’re all gonna pay Unless we try You and I

about

My project began as an exercise in recording techniques with a re-write and fresh recording of Spoiled Rotten in America (originally written in 1989). As I worked through the process, I came to the sad realization that little has changed- politically or environmentally. With that in mind, the 2 new songs (reflection) began to take shape and the idea to close the EP with Extinction (1987), seemed fitting. It’s a true song of hope-something there’s never a short supply of. What I’ve learned since the 2 old were penned those decades ago is that real change takes generations. Never give up the fight & always make music!
